Reduce display brightness after a period of inactivity with laptop-mode-tools?

Asked by , Edited by Tuxedoar

I’m using a netbook with Debian Wheezy installed on it. I’ve laptop-mode-tools configured to do mostly the things I want. The only thing I’m missing is to figure out how to configure it so that will reduce the display brightness automatically after a period of inactivity. Is there a way to achieve this with laptop-mode-tools or should I use something else?. Note that reducing brightness when on battery or raising it on AC, works fine.

Model of the netbook is MSI wind U100.

Thanks in advance!.

As far as I can tell laptop-mode-tools have no notion of monitoring inactivity. The AC or battery events are generated by acpid, but inactivity is a different type of event. You’ll likely need something that connects to your X server.
