How can I get the temperature of my Radeon HD 3200 in Debian?

Hi,

My desktop PC has an on-board Radeon HD 3200 GPU (with chipset RS780) and I would like to get the temperature at which is running. At the moment, I have both Debian “Wheezy” and “Jessie” (for some experiments…) installed on this hardware.

I already have lm-sensors installed in both installations, which gives me the CPU temp and the MB temp. GPU temp is, of course, missing.

These are the modules I have on /etc/modules, that if I recall correctly were added by lm-sensors after being configured:

My guess is, I have some missing module (not loaded or present) necessary for lm-sensors to display my GPU temp (if supported). Am I right? Do you have any tip or hint to achieve this?

I forgot to mention that I am using the open source "radeon" driver.

Also, I found out that the it87 module refuse to load due to a conflict with ACPI, which seems to be a well known behavior. Also, the loading of this module can be forced by passing  the "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" option to the Linux kernel. However, I'm not sure about trying that yet, because I've read that could be somehow dangerous. Anyway, even if the it87 module gets loaded, I don't know if it's going to provide me the GPU temp I'm looking for. Does anyone know about this?

FYI: Setting acpi_enforce_resources=lax can cause race conditions that can accidentally turn off your fan. This is not a theoretical problem. It can damage your hardware, if it fails to shut down due to hitting thermal limits.
