changing my email address in the Debian BTS

Asked by , Edited by Fernando C. Estrada [ Admin ]

I see the option

submitter bugnumber originator-address | !
Changes the originator of #bugnumber to originator-address.

If you wish to become the new originator of the report you can use the ! shorthand or specify your own email address.

Is this my only option? Is there anything else I can do? If not, would I just email control@bugs.debian.org the following?

submitter [lots of bug numbers] new address

Also, does this submitter command work with closed bugs?

You did find the correct solution yourself. To change your email address in all bugs you would send a long mail to control@b.d.o with lots of submitter lines. Closed bugs get archived and can no longer be modified. In order to modify them you would first unarchive them, then change the submitter and then archive them again (or let the bts do it later). An example mail can be found at http://lists.debian.org/debian-doc/2007/12/msg00027.html. I am not aware of a script for generating such a mail.
