Debian 6.0 32bit with amd64 kernel

Traduzione da Italiano verso Inglese

Good morning.
I installed Debian 6.0 on my computer with 32-bit processor.
I saw that the kernel is an amd64, perhaps because the processor supports
This extension to 64bit. I can use it easily, since all
programs are compiled for 32 bit, or better to install a kernel
32-bit extension for bigmem 4 gigs of ram?
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
However I am sure I have a 32bit processor and I’m sure you have a DVD of the Debian installation type i386.
At the springs to life after the installation, I propose the grub2 amd64 kernel. I’m pretty sure!

How do you know you have a 32-bit processor and a i386 version of Debian? Why do you think you have an AMD64 kernel running?

Please run the commands I listed above in my comment to your question.

As says you can’t run a 64-bit on a 32-bit processor as it will fail to boot.
