What is the proper way to do a QA upload?

I’m interested in give some love to one or two packages at http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=packages@qa.debian.org but i’m not a DD. Do QA uploads has specific rules? Or just need to package the new version and find a sponsor?

Great, we need QA uploads! Here’s a primer I’ve written over a year ago: http://members.hellug.gr/serzan/etc/QAUploadsPrimer.txt

Having said that, a couple of big fat warnings apply.

First, the only way of avoiding mistakes is to familiarise yourself with Debian Policy; anything else is a shortcut that is likely to lead to omissions.

Second, please don’t even bother unless you do intend to eventually get serious about the time you commit in Debian. A large part of sponsoring an upload is about training whoever prepared it, and that’s time wasted unless he/she desires to eventually become a DM or a DD (=get limited or unlimited permission to upload in the Debian archive).
