I have a laptop which includes a recent ATI graphics card (Mobility Radeon HD 5000). The distribution is Debian testing with some packages from unstable and experimental (e.g. linux-base). The kernel is 2.6.36-rc5. I use the open-source radeon driver and for most purposes that’s more than fine. But it doesn’t support hardware acceleration for this card. I know that following the recent release of information by AMD/ATI the radeon driver is under very rapid development. Is there a version yet that’s ready for testing under daily use? If so, is there a HOWTO somewhere that would tell me how to best install and test a development version in the Debian environment? Thanks, Jim
