Best music streaming software for an ARM server?

Hello.

I tried using MPD for streaming music from my ARM server (SheevaPlug) but unsuccessfully. Also tried Subsonic, but Java keeps the server’s CPU at 100% when idle :D and Icecast2, also a no-go due to transcoding CPU impact.

Are there any good, easy to use, alternatives for a soundcard-less server? Or am I stuck with one of these?

Thanks!

It is really disappointing to hear that the mpd as a streaming solution wasn’t working. As I plan on buying a sheva plug to do the exact same thing! Have you tried the sugested configuration here : http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mpd#Anotheralternativesolution ?

As far as alternatives have you looked at SlimServer / Squeezebox Server. Ive used it before and it supports a lot of input formats. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_Server

Thanks for referring SqueezeBox, it’s performant and feature packed. I installed it, indexed 120 GB in 2 hours, and use SoftSqueeze to stream :D
